ALERT: Compass Data Centers are Contacting Neighbors near 77th and Gary Ormsby Dr
July 15, 2026
Compass Data Centers are Contacting Neighbors near 77th and Gary Ormsby Drive in Shawnee County. The short notice is a tactic to catch us off-guard before the community can organize. Here is how we can immediately push back and preserve your rights and protections as landowners in the area:
DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING If you attend a meeting, do not sign any letters of intent, options to purchase, or Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs). Signing an NDA legally strips away your rights.
DEMAND EVERYTHING IN WRITING: Force Compass to put their full plans on paper. Demand written reports on:
•Noise Levels: Exact decibel ratings for the massive industrial cooling fans.
•Water Usage: How many millions of gallons of water they will draw daily.
•Substations & Power Lines: The location of high-voltage infrastructure.
Tell them: "We cannot agree to anything today. All materials must be handed to legal counsel for review."
Property Value & Landscape Protections: Demand to see exact blueprints for buffer zones, security walls, and heavy landscaping. Data centers are massive, prison-like concrete blocks. We must protect our precious farmland for generations to come.
DEMAND A FREEZE (MORATORIUM) Contact our Shawnee County Commissioners immediately. Ask them to pass an immediate 12-month moratorium (freeze) on all data center applications, to buy time to build protections.
All Commissioners: 785-251-4040 Commission@snco.us
Demand a public open house by Compass BEFORE application submission! It’s not right for them to hold it after they’ve submitted an application!
