Datacenters Behaving LikeWeapons
Data center developers will claim that the noise they produce is within reasonable decibel limits and that they set the noisiest machinery back as far from the boundary as they can. What they fail to mention is that those “permissible” limits are still incredibly loud, and that the noise runs constantly, every day - unlike a typical industrial site, it never turns off.
What’s even less mentioned are the insidious effects of infrasound which can be easily ignored or, even worse, discredited, since it’s not consciously audible. There is no lack of scientific consensus around infrasound’s effects though - if there were, the military probably wouldn’t have been using it as a sonic weapon since at least as far back as the Iraq War.
