ERIN BROCKOVICH TELLS COMPASS DATACENTERS TO STOP USING HER NAME

We’re continuing our series debunking Compass Datacenters’ many misrepresentations in their presentation to Topeka City Council for the hyperscale data center proposal. This is a big one discovered by one of our incredible group members. Here’s the story in her own words:

“During the August 19 City Council work session, Compass Datacenters played a video featuring Robert Bowcock and introduced him as a ‘third‑party expert’ who helped start the Erin Brockovich Foundation. That claim immediately stood out to me because Compass was invoking Erin Brockovich’s name and credibility to support their presentation.

To verify the accuracy of that statement, I contacted Erin Brockovich directly and provided the video. Erin responded personally and unequivocally: ‘I do not work with Bob Bowcock nor do I work with Compass Data Centers nor did I know that Bob Bowcock works with them. Bob Bowcock did not start the Erin Brockovich Foundation — I did, which I put on hold many years ago.’

Erin then emailed her full statement (provided here) for the express purpose of being read into the record at the September JEDO meeting. I presented her statement publicly at that meeting, where it was made clear that Compass had misrepresented her name and the origins of her foundation in their earlier briefing.

For transparency, Erin’s email has also been forwarded to Compass Datacenter’s Principal of Corporate Communications. As of today, the Bob Bowcock video is still up on YouTube.”
